Weekend Bakery Pop-Up at Sunlight Sports
Rebecca from Weekend Bakery is doing something incredible – she's donating all proceeds from her February 21st bakery boxes to Cody Cupboard, covering all her own costs, handling every detail, and asked us to simply host the pickup. This is community generosity at its best, and we're honored to be part of it.
The February box includes pistachio pinwheels, browned butter chocolate chip cookies, mini pavlova with berry curd and whipped cream, cream cheese and blackberry danish, and vanilla cake with cookie butter frosting and praline crunch. Plus key lime cookies available for walk-up orders that morning.
Pre-order starting February 7th. Pick up Saturday morning, February 21st at Sunlight Sports.
Telluride Mountainfilm
Sunlight Sports is sponsoring Telluride Mountainfilm on Tour, presented by Park County Citizens for Sustainability.
Mountainfilm is a documentary film festival that's been running since 1979, showcasing films about adventure, mountain culture, environmental issues, and what they call "indomitable spirit." The tour brings a curated collection of the festival's best-loved films to communities around the world – over 150 shows annually across six continents.
Start with us at 5:00 PM for pint night, then walk over to the Cody Theatre for the films. A Mountainfilm presenter will introduce each one – short documentaries covering everything from climbing and outdoor adventure to environmental preservation and mountain cultures.
Suggested donation at the door. Raffle to follow.

Trip Notes: Antarctica - Planning Your Trip to the 7th Continent Thursday, March 12th | 6:00 PM
She'll share what the trip looks like on the ground - daily kayaking among icebergs, the polar plunge, walking on Antarctica, wildlife encounters with penguins and seals, and the science talks that happen onboard. And she'll cover the lessons learned and tips that only come from actually being there.
If Antarctica is on your bucket list but you don't know where to start, or you just want to hear what this trip is really like, come ask your questions.
Trip Notes: Dead Indian Hill Recreation Area - What's Open Now, What's Coming Next | Thursday, March 19th | 6:00 PM
Sam Hochhalter from Friends of Shoshone Trails will walk us through the new recreation area on Dead Indian Hill - the groomed trail network that just opened this winter for nordic skiing, fat tire biking, and snowshoeing.
The area sits 30 minutes from Cody near the Chief Joseph Highway, with nearly 5 miles of groomed roads at elevations from 7,700 to 8,600 feet. You can ski with views of Sunlight Peak, the Beartooths, Cloud Peak, and the Pryors.
Sam will cover what's open now, what the summer trail plans look like, and where the project stands in the federal approval process. If you've been looking for a close-to-home alternative to Wood River or Pahaska, or you want to know how this could expand into a bigger trail system, this is your chance to hear it directly and ask questions.
Trip Notes: Your First Backpacking Trip - Gear, Grizzlies, and 3 Local Routes Thursday, March 19th | 6:00 PM
Most people think backpacking around here requires expensive gear, expert skills, and nerves of steel to deal with grizzlies. It doesn't.
We will walk you through three accessible overnight trips within 60 miles of Cody - places where you can test your comfort level, build skills, and actually enjoy yourself. We'll cover what gear you actually need (not what magazines say you need), how to think about wildlife safety without paranoia, and why just getting out on your first trip matters more than doing it perfectly.
If you've been thinking about backpacking but don't know where to start, or you're nervous about doing it solo or with kids, come ask questions. This is for people who want to go, not people who already went.
This presentation is part of our weekly Pint Night series. Every Thursday, we offer complimentary beer or non-alcoholic beverages to anyone with a Sunlight pint glass. Don't have one yet? You can purchase a limited-edition glass at the event - 100% of the proceeds go directly to one of our five local nonprofit partners that get kids outside. Since 2010, Pint Nights have helped contribute over $700,000 to youth outdoor programs in northwest Wyoming.
Trip Notes: Planning and Hiking the Portuguese Camino
Will and Theresa just got back from Europe last year, where they hiked the Portuguese Camino, the Fisherman's Trail, Cinque Terre, and more. They'll talk about how they pulled it off - segment hiking, traveling with a kid, staying on budget, and figuring out the logistics that make European hiking trips actually happen.
Lost Wolves of Yellowstone Wednesday, January 29th | Pint Night at 5:00 PM | Film at 6:30 PM
Park County Citizens for Sustainability is screening the original IMAX documentary Lost Wolves of Yellowstone at the downtown Cody Theater. Start your evening at Sunlight for Pint Night at 5:00 PM, then walk down the street for the 6:30 PM screening.
The film uses footage lost for decades to document the 1995 wolf reintroduction - following the federal process and the people involved on all sides of the debate. Whether you lived through it or want to understand what happened, it's a piece of local history worth seeing.
Doors open at 6:00 PM at the Cody Theater.

Cody local Jarren Kuipers will be sharing his adventures in some of the wildest parts of the park - the southern edge of Yellowstone Lake. Join us to check out some great stories, ask questions, and get tips for planning your own world-class trip in our own back yard.

Fundraiser for Meredith!
Come in Thursday night to support one of own very favorite people, Meredith! This weekend, our dear friend and long-time coworker Meredith Zajac, suffered a catastrophic loss as the barn that housed all of the necessary equipment for her business, Wyoming Horsemanship Academy, burnt down.
If you’ve been around the store at any time in the last few years, you know Meredith. She’s the cheery face that’s in our pint room every Thursday night, and leading our hikes every weekend during the summer.
So this Thursday’s Pint Night is all about gathering donations for Meredith and her family as they work to rebuild her barn, and her business. Come in, have a beer, and throw some cash in the donation jar for Meredith. We look forward to seeing you!
Pint Night with Beartooth Trails!
This Thursday’s Pint Night features a group doing real work for trails we all use.
Beartooth Trails is based in Red Lodge, but if you’ve ever hiked in the Beartooths, chances are you’ve benefited from their efforts. They’re helping build and maintain a trail system that stretches across some of the wildest, most beautiful country in our region.
They’ll be in the shop from 5 to 8 to share what they’re working on and how you can get involved. Stop in, grab a drink, and say hi. It’s a good time to support good trails.
Want to know more? Here is how Beartooth Trails describe themselves..."Beartooth Trails is a nonprofit, volunteer-powered organization that advocates for connecting people to the outdoors, because we believe residents and visitors to Red Lodge should have access to adventures in every season. Originally formed in 2002 to operate the Red Lodge Nordic Center, our mission has expanded to year round operations. Our projects include grooming the West Fork Road for winter recreation, trail building and maintenance in partnership with the City of Red Lodge, the Beartooth Ranger District, and Red Lodge Mountain. We are also involved in active transportation projects around Red Lodge."

Public Lands Employee Appreciation Night
Public lands employees keep our trails clear, our parks open, and our wild spaces protected. They do the work that makes outdoor adventure possible, often without enough recognition or resources. With the recent cuts to federal land management agencies, their jobs just got even more challenging.
We think that deserves a thank you.
Join us at Sunlight Sports for Public Lands Employee Appreciation Night – an evening to celebrate the rangers, firefighters, maintenance crews, and everyone who care for the lands we love.
📍 Where: Sunlight Sports
📅 When: March 6th
🎉 Who: Open to all public lands employees and those who appreciate what they do.
Whether you’re a national park ranger, a Forest Service worker, a BLM staffer, a BuRec person, a state park or wildlife staff person, or part of a local conservation crew, this night is for you. Stop by, connect with others who share your passion, and let us show our appreciation for everything you do.
